Introduction to Screw Design – Part 1

This webinar introduces the available screw geometries for intermeshing, co-rotating twin-screw extruders in order to understand how mixing is possible and under what conditions.

The webinar identifies the design criteria for conveying screws (e.g. direction of conveying; pitch; number of flights) and kneading elements (offset angle; disc width; forward/neutral/reverse conveying direction; number of flights) and gives examples of where each type of element is used. The screw design concepts discussed are then applied in the following webinar (Introduction to Screw Design – Part 2) where the strategies for developing screw configurations are presented.
